For some, this is pure pure fascinationfor Thomas, Yannick and Justin it is "highlining", literally the highest form of slacklining.

On 2 September, Bergbahnen Brandnertal helped the three athletes to stretch the slacklines - and not as usual between two fixed points, but between two gondolas, which themselves are suspended from ropes. With a span of 65 meters this is a new slacklineworld recordmore precisely in highlining without a fixed attachment point. The Vorarlberg team beat the French record holder by five meters.

The goal was not the slackline world record, but the feeling

"We were less concerned with the Record, but above all this incredible experience," says Thomas Spöttl, Chairman of the Austrian Slackline Association. He explains: "Normally, you can orient yourself visually to your surroundings. At such a height, however, you are virtually in empty space and have to fully and completely rely entirely on your instincts and your own abilities. That was a very special sporting challenge." Thomas Spöttl has been slacklining as a hobby since 2009, Yannik Loerwald and Justin Kroppa have been part of the slackline scene since 2015.

Exceptional commitment to the Panoramabahn

The world record was not only for the slackliners a highlight, but also for the Bergbahnen Brandnertal. "One such our panorama lift has never never before," says David DomigManaging Director of Bergbahnen Brandnertal. "It was really impressive to see what the three of them have achieved. For us, it was a great pleasure and a great experience to support them in their ambitious project." And even though it was a spectators:inside looked spectacularly dangerous: A lot of emphasis was placed on safety - the athletes were hooked in with a safety line, among other things. To avoid taking any risks, the world record attempt was even postponed once due to wind. The second time, however, the three athletes found perfect conditions and set the new slackline world record record.
