Traditional burning of sparks in Bludenz (Brunnenfeld)

Burning off sparks has a long tradition in Vorarlberg and this year, too, the wooden tower - the spark - artfully piled up by the spark guild and sometimes up to 30 meters high will be ignited in Bludenz. The highlight is the explosion of the spark witch at the very top.

The first Sunday after Ash Wednesday, is also known as “Küachli Sunday” in Vorarlberg - and not without good reason, as every spark burning has a great supporting program with culinary delicacies such as baked “Funkaküachli” (yeast cakes).

from 13:00 - torch building course for children at the Funkenplatz - Funkaküachle and mulled cider
 
18:15 - traditional torchlight procession - departure from the Krone inn in Brunnenfeld with town music
 
18:30 - Burning of the sparks - with torch swinging
