Walserensemble
At Kirchplatz in Brand, you can experience the unique Walser architecture up close. Architects Bruno Spagolla and Wolfgang Ritsch have masterfully created a harmonious blend of historical structures and modern design.
For a long time, Brand lacked a clearly defined village center. A few publicly used buildings near the church formed a modest focal point. It wasn’t until the construction of the community center in the 1990s that Mühledörfle developed into the town’s economic hub. However, with the Walser Ensemble, consisting of the Old Schoolhouse, Walserhus, Parish House, and Church, the old village center was revitalized, becoming a place of community and cultural exchange.
Today, Kirchplatz and its historic ensemble form the cultural heart of Brand, showcasing a seamless fusion of tradition and modernity. The Old Schoolhouse, Church, and Parish House are listed as historical monuments, while the Walserhus, though not officially protected, is also recorded in the monument registry.
A place where history is preserved while offering space for community and connection in the present.
