Clear the stage for mountain bikers
Where the asphalt ends, the pleasure begins
Every excursion into nature becomes an adventure, especially when you stand on the summit after the exertion and look down into the valley with satisfaction. This indescribable feeling of freedom flows through your body. It is precisely this moment that makes you overcome your inner bastard every time.
But to be honest, at this very moment, I'm not so sure. I can feel my thighs with every pedal stroke and I only use the e-assist on my bike sparingly. Bend after bend, we work our way up to the Loischkopf. Since the start on the Tschengla in Bürserberg, we haven't lacked motivation. All our attention is focused on the route and the breathtaking surroundings. We keep up our pace and I enjoy simply being in the moment when mountain biking. On the last few meters before the highest point of our tour, we put all our energy into it.
We've done it. A deep breath, our gaze sweeps over the panorama that spreads out before us. The valley lies far below us, framed by the mountain peaks of the Rätikon, strung together like a string of pearls. And there it is again: that feeling of freedom that makes you realize that anything is possible. The amazement at the landscape doesn't fade, even though we've been here for several days now.
We pause for a moment and collect ourselves before venturing downhill. Because descents are not for relaxing, as my companion remarks with a grin. Especially not today, as we have set ourselves a new challenge. After countless meters on wide forest roads, we want to ride down a flow trail today. We've rented full-suspension bikes especially for this, as their suspension makes for a more comfortable ride.
I cling tightly to the handlebars for the first few meters on the "Panorama Trail". But as I find my pace, I increasingly fall into the flowing rhythm of waves and bends. My head is completely free, only the ideal line and the next obstacle count. It's not just me, I realize - we're both enjoying this rollercoaster feeling to the full. Wow, why haven't we tried trail riding before?
We only stop once at the edge of the trail to catch our breath and make way for a few more experienced bikers. The option of taking the parallel goods road is out of the question for us. We'd rather ride around one or two waves if we're not entirely comfortable with them. The decision to also take the flow trail for the descent into the valley is quickly made at the mountain station of the Dorfbahn.
Once we arrive in Brand, we get off the saddle full of adrenaline. What an experience. What a day.
