What We Stand For

Rooted in Origin and Community

The Brandnertal, with deep roots in Walser tradition, was settled in the 13th and 14th centuries by migrants from Goms in the Upper Rhône Valley—now part of the canton of Valais in western Switzerland. In the mid-19th century, as enthusiasm for the mountains began to grow, the Brandnertal and its stunning alpine landscape became a magnet for mountaineers.

The history of the Walser people remains deeply woven into the identity of the Brandnertal to this day. The spirit of “zemma” — a deep sense of togetherness and genuine community — is still very much alive here. The dialect word “zemma” translates to “together” in standard German.

Our region captivates with heartfelt encounters, diverse natural landscapes, a wide range of outdoor activities, and genuine hospitality. Here, the close-knit spirit of village life is still very much present. We offer authentic experiences — sometimes moving and meaningful, sometimes lively and full of energy — as varied and vibrant as the landscape itself.
