Celebrate Sustainably

Events with responsibility

We attach great importance to organizing our events in harmony with the environment and nature wherever possible. That is why we have been holding all events with the "ghörig feschta" initiative since November 2024.

Award "ghörig feschta"

"ghörig feschta" is an initiative of the Vorarlberg Environmental Association in cooperation with the Austrian Institute of Ecology. The aim is to make festivals and events in Vorarlberg more sustainable. Certain criteria must be met in order to receive the award. These include the areas of waste management, catering, mobility, resource conservation, responsibility, advertising and communication.

Actions

Waste reduction:

  • Only reusable crockery and cutlery is used for food.
  • Reusable containers and crockery are used for drinks.
  • If disposable drinks packaging is handed out in the course of unavoidable sponsoring, it must be ensured that it is taken back and collected according to type 100 %.
  • Large containers are used instead of portion packs (e.g. for mustard or ketchup).
  • Appropriate containers are set up and supervised for the correct separation of the waste produced.
  • Each toilet is equipped with a suitable waste garbage can.
  • Give-aways are either unpackaged and without batteries or are not used at all.

Fine dining: strengthening regional added value

  • Purchases are made - where available - from local or regional suppliers or producers.
  • Mainly regional (maximum 150 km radius) and fair trade products (food and drinks) are used.
  • At least one wholesome, vegetarian or vegan dish is offered.

Good on the road: using soft mobility

  • Visitors will be given priority and detailed information about climate-friendly travel to and from the event when the event is advertised, but at the latest when they register.
  • The start and end of the event will be coordinated with public transport, provided that the general conditions allow it.

Sensible use of resources

  • Either 100 % recycled paper or paper with an eco-label (Austrian Ecolabel, Blue Angel, EU Eco-Label or Nordic Swan) is used for printed materials.
  • Domestic or certified materials (e.g. PEFC-certified wood) are used for structures and equipment (e.g. bar). Alternatively, necessary superstructures and equipment are purchased or rented from regional producers (max. 150 km radius).
  • If cleaning agents are purchased, they must be ecological or environmentally friendly.
  • Radiant heaters are not used for outdoor events.

Being responsible

  • The range of drinks includes sufficient non-alcoholic alternatives.

  • Promotions that encourage the excessive consumption of alcohol (e.g. "happy hours" or "meter drinking") are avoided.

  • Information is provided on the barrier-free accessibility of the event or any restrictions.

Advertising & Communication

  • The employees and partners involved are informed about the "ghörig feschta/nachhaltig veranstalten" criteria to be adhered to.
  • Visitors are informed that the event will be held in accordance with "ghörig feschta/nachhaltig veranstalten".

Tips on how you can behave in an environmentally friendly way at events:

Arrival:

  • Use public transport, carpool or come on foot or by bike.

Avoid waste:

  • Bring your own drinking bottle or a reusable cup.
  • Avoid disposable products and always dispose of waste in the bins provided.

Sustainable catering:

  • Go for regional, seasonal and organic food.
  • Choose vegetarian or vegan options if possible.

Save resources:

  • Avoid unnecessary giveaways that you don't need.
  • Use digital tickets instead of printed tickets.

Take responsibility:

  • Support event organizers who focus on sustainability.
  • Share your feedback if you see room for improvement.

Consume consciously:

  • Buy products from local suppliers or sustainable brands.
  • Save energy, e.g. by bringing power banks instead of disposable batteries.

By making small, conscious decisions, you can help to make events more environmentally friendly.
