5 tips from Angelina

Adventure! Vertical! Rock! Rope! That's my world. There is hardly anything that gives me more energy than climbing up a climbing wall, feeling the thrill and being completely with myself. When I'm vertical, I can block out everything else and find my inner peace.

Here are 5 tips for your next climbing adventure:

  1. Routes and preparation: good orientation is essential when climbing. Especially in multi-pitch and alpine routes, orientation is the biggest challenge - but even in sport climbing, route finding can take some time. That's why a climbing guide is always a loyal companion. For Bludenz and the surrounding area, I can highly recommend the Vorarlberg sport climbing guide from Panico Verlag.
  2. Equipment: Nobody should climb without the right equipment! Climbing harness, helmet, shoes, rope, quickdraws, carabiners - everything must be included. But it's not enough just to take the equipment with you; you also need to pay attention to the right specifications. Rope length? Alpine quickdraws or normal ones? HMS carabiners or normal carabiners? Find out about the requirements of your tour in advance!
  3. Weather: A thunderstorm while climbing is anything but fun - it's life-threatening! Particularly treacherous: An approaching front can be difficult to recognize when you are hanging in the middle of the wall, as the front often still shows a blue sky. So always check the weather forecast and keep an eye on the sky!
  4. Lean from experts: There's no shame in occasionally joining a guided program. Whether it's a course, a trial climb or a tour with professionals - you'll learn the right techniques and be well prepared for anything.
  5. Mental attitude: Climbing with a fear of heights is not fine. But a top rope on an easy route is a great way to test your limits and overcome your fear in safe conditions.
