Enjoyable mountain adventure evening
Dinner with a view and night tobogganing between Brand and Bürserberg
Skiing makes you hungry. This is not a ground-breaking insight, but a well-known fact. Of course, this also applies to snowshoe and winter hikers, tobogganers and sun worshippers - everyone is hungry after an eventful day in the fresh air in the snow. This is why the huts and restaurants on the mountain and in the village are so important for a ski resort. In addition to traditional inns and upscale restaurants, there are also award-winning restaurants for gourmets. But a very special highlight in the winter months is the mountain adventure evening. In the evening, when the village slowly begins to quiet down, winter sports enthusiasts - hungry from the day - set off to get back into the gondola and float up above the romantically glowing village of Brand. Restaurant Frööd is located at 1,600 meters, between Brand and Bürserberg with a view of the Rätikon, the Alpine town of Bludenz and millions of stars. The few meters to the restaurant are illuminated with torches and there is a fire bowl on the terrace. Steaming mulled wine and fragrant punch warm your fingers, while your eyes can't get enough of the shimmering reflection of the snow on the surrounding peaks, the glowing stars in the sky and the warm lights in the valley, which from up here almost look as if the sky is reflected in a deep lake. Warm light shines invitingly through the large windows of the restaurant into the dark night and inside, a fire warms the modern, all-wood interior. The menu includes everything your heart desires - venison stew from the local hunt, bulgur vegetable bowl with Brandner cream cheese and, of course, the Kaiserschmarren. The small, fine menu offers a varied selection that includes both modern dishes and vegan dishes. All ingredients are fresh and the dishes are prepared with great attention to detail.
After having dinner here, we feel comfortably warm and wonderfully full, almost a little sleepy.
But the way down into the valley is imminent. So put on your helmet, slip into your gloves and set off. If you prefer a more leisurely ride, take the cable car back to Brand. Max, who leads the night toboggan safari to Bürserberg, is waiting for the adventurous. Equipped with headlamps, the brave night owls trudge towards Furkla, before whooping and hollering as they hurtle down into the valley. Brave night tobogganists can also let the evening draw to a close in Brand - from the mountain station of the Dorfbahn cable car, the illuminated hairpin bends lead down to the village.
