Tips & Emergency Numbers

Marking of the snowshoe tours on site

Our snowshoe tours are signposted with pink directional arrows and marker poles.

If there are no tracks (e.g. in fresh snow) or if you are not familiar with the area, we recommend taking part in a guided snowshoe tour. Our experienced mountain guides will accompany you safely through the winter landscape and have some adventurous stories in store for you.

We recommend solo hikers to pay attention to the weather forecast and avalanche warnings and make sure they have the appropriate equipment.

Explanation of the tour descriptions

Difficulty

  • Easy: also suitable for beginners. Orientation is easy. Switchbacks are rarely required.
  • Medium: good physical condition and experience in setting up the trail are required. Longer sections with hairpin bends may have to be covered.
  • Difficult: only for experienced tourers. Do not allow any slips in certain sections.

Avalanche danger

  • Low: mostly low risk if the route is chosen appropriately.
  • Medium: includes sections of the route which, if the snow build-up is unfavorable or the day is very warm, are a reason to abort the tour early even if the route is chosen carefully.
  • High: the tour should only be attempted in very safe conditions.

This categorization is no substitute for careful assessment and evaluation of the current risk situation!

  • Take a snack and (warm) drinks with you. You will find places to stop for refreshments in the route descriptions.
  • Obtain information from the avalanche warning service and the weather stations.
  • Avoid slopes with a gradient of over 30°.
  • Do not set off too late - dusk sets in around 4.00 p.m. in winter.
  • Do not set off in snowfall or fog.
  • Orientation aidssuch as a map, altimeter and compass are recommended (especially for snowshoe hikes and ski tours).
  • Take a headlamp, cell phone and first aid kit with you.

Respect your boundaries

Forests and meadows, rivers and lakes are valuable leisure and recreational areas. Anyone out and about in nature should also bear in mind that nature is a highly sensitive habitat for plants and animals that is worth protecting. Forests in particular also have an important protective function. The Vorarlberg state government's initiative "Wohngemeinschaft Natur" informs residents and visitors about how to treat nature with respect. With this in mind, we also ask you to respect protected and conservation areas. The most important recommendations: Stay on signposted paths and keep nature clean.
