Slopes in the Klostertal
Rugged peaks, steep valley slopes, and the sound of rushing water: The Klostertal stretches from the foot of the Arlberg to the Alpine Town Bludenz and captivates visitors with its unspoiled, diverse natural landscape. Rain-laden westerly winds have carved the valley with gorges, streams, waterfalls, mountain lakes, and snow-covered landscapes.
Water is the heart of the Klostertal: from the legendary Formarinsee to the imposing Mason Waterfall and on to the Sonnenkopf natural ski area. In these places, you can experience the power of nature up close—whether swimming, practicing Kneipp therapy, skiing, or relaxing on the tranquil shores.
Whether nature awakens in spring, the mountains invite you to take a refreshing dip in summer, or the forests turn colorful in fall, the Klostertal reveals a different side of itself time and again. And there’s plenty to discover in winter, too: on walks along the Alfenz River, on winter hiking trails, or while skiing in the natural snow ski area. … and if that’s not enough: Austria’s largest ski resort—Ski Arlberg—is practically at your feet. From the Klostertal, you can easily reach the trailhead in Stuben by ski bus.
When nature is at its most beautiful in its autumn colors, there’s plenty to discover in the Klostertal. Enjoy regional delicacies, explore the autumnal mountains, and experience the special atmosphere of this time of year.

What's special about the Klostertal? For me, it's the close proximity to nature. Whether on the side of the Lechquellengebirge with the Formarinsee, the Spullersee and the impressive Rote Wand or in the Verwallgebirge with the Alpe Nenzigast, the Fallbach via ferrata and the Kristberg - here you can experience mountain peaks, mountain lakes and pure wilderness up close.
