Family day in the snow
Skiing and tobogganing fun on the Sonnenkopf
As our gondola reaches the mountain station and the doors open at an altitude of 1,840 meters, we are greeted by the morning sun and a view of snow-covered mountain peaks and freshly groomed natural snow slopes. My family and I strap on our skis in anticipation and are ready for a day of skiing on the Sonnenkopf.
Our five-year-old son, already in his second skiing season, is eager to master new slopes. Our three-year-old daughter, still a beginner, shares his excitement at finding her own way on the snow.
First skiing experiences in Schneemannland
Our day begins in Schneemannland next to the mountain station, with two conveyor carpets, also known as magic carpets. The slalom course awakens the children's enthusiasm and with skillful turns they steer their skis around the red and blue gates. Now we are ready to explore more of the Sonnenkopf's natural snow slopes.
The gateway to skiing fun
The "Riedboden" awaits us with a T-bar lift and a wide, flat slope. The four of us go up together on the T-bar.
While we glide down the slope in gentle curves, we guide our daughter safely on the pole. The children are beaming about their skiing skills and so, after a few runs, we continue our exploration of the ski area.
With the chairlift to new views
Switching to the "Riedkopf" chairlift opens up a variety of views: on the right, the hustle and bustle on the slopes, on the left, the panorama of the Alps. In the distance you can see the "Muttjöchle" summit cross, which can be reached on foot or with snowshoes. At the end of our lift ride, the "Muttjöchle" restaurant with its sun terrace invites you to be enchanted by the impressive backdrop.
The "Obermuri" chairlift also offers us a panoramic view and access to various slopes. Due to the variety, every moment on the slopes is filled with excitement and joy.
Culinary delights and alpine views in the mountain restaurant
After making numerous tracks on the slopes of the Sonnenkopf, we feel like a well-earned refreshment. Inviting sunny spots and delicious treats await us on the panoramic terrace of the mountain restaurant. As we eat, we reflect on the morning and look into the shining eyes of the children.
A fast-paced finish on the toboggan run
Invigorated and full of energy, we decide to round off the afternoon with a toboggan run. The 2 km long toboggan run, which winds its way from the mountain station to the middle station, is already waiting for us. Equipped with toboggans and bobsleighs, we whizz down the run with a smile on our faces. At the bottom, the gondola takes us back up to the mountain station - ready for the next descent.
We will always remember this day on the Sonnenkopf as a wonderful memory of family fun, shared laughter and the beauty of the Alps.
