My most beautiful water spots
Water, the elixir of life in the Klostertal
The Klostertal, a region where water not only shapes the landscape, but has also inspired and enlivened people since time immemorial. It is the water that gushes out of the slopes of the Klostertal mountain forests, winds its way through the landscape as the Alfenz, rushes down into the valley in the Mason waterfall and freezes to ice as the Fallbach in winter. It is this eternal source of power that not only gives people here energy, but also peace and joie de vivre.
My waterside escape: five places of energy in Klostertal
- My haven of peace - Kneipp and Relax Garten Alfenz: a cool splash on my face, ice-cold water around my feet, warm water flowing over my arms. The cool water not only invigorates the body - I also find mental clarity here. I love being in this place, especially in the stillness of dawn. Surrounded by the gentle scent of the herb garden, my favorite place reminds me of the simplicity of being. Here I am completely with myself.
- My footprints in the snow - Sonnenkopf and Muttjöchle: Can you imagine what it feels like to trudge knee-deep through freshly fallen deep snow, surrounded by a sea of white? Quite exhausting, to be honest. But on the winter hiking trail or with snowshoes, it's like walking on clouds or absorbent cotton - incomparably beautiful. We owe the snowy winters to the special location of the Klostertal. The Sonnenkopf is a very special spot - here you can still find real natural snow in the ski area, the likes of which can hardly be found anywhere else.
- My reflection - Lake Spullersee: What's the difference between a reflection in a conventional mirror and one in water? The water of Lake Spullersee refracts my reflection, it doesn't stand still and isn't clear, but distorts and moves the moment. It's a bit mystical and poetic. I not only see myself in the water, but also nature and the mountains reflected in it. Sometimes I spend the night at the Ravensburger Hütte and walk down to the lake in the evening - there's something magical about it.
- Drops of water on my skin - Klostertal via ferrata on the Fallbach: Nenzigast, Mason, Mühletobel - the waterfalls in Klostertal have fascinated me since I was a child. I looked longingly up at the Mason waterfall and wondered what would happen if I stood underneath it. But the most impressive way to experience the power of these giants is at the Fallbach stream. A via ferrata leads up along the waterfall. It is by no means easy - but it humbles me anew every time.
- My outdoor living room - on the banks of the Alfenz: barbecuing with friends on the banks of the river, swimming in it on cool summer days - that's joie de vivre. Living on, with and through the water. For me, water is more than just a backdrop. It is an encounter, nourishment, our most precious commodity. It nourishes, cleanses and refreshes us and our ecosystems. It is a play of the seasons, a witness of time. Water is power, peace - ourselves.
But water can also be destruction... The Klostertal was characterized by floods, mudslides and avalanches. After the opening of the Arlberg train, an era of intensive damming began, which continues to this day, in order to protect the valley from the incredible forces of water.
