Fontanella with the district Faschina is the highest location in the biosphere park Großes WalsertaI. It is embedded between rugged limestone cliffs, gentle meadows and wild mountain streams. The Zafernhorn, which separates Bregenzerwald and Großes Walsertal biosphere reserve towers majestically above the Faschinapass (1.485 m). The ski resort Faschina and its good snow safety and excellent piste conditions is especially suited to families. In summer, the Seewaldsee in Fontanella brings cool refreshment after a mountain hike and hikers and botanists alike enjoy the plant diversity of the Hahnenkopf in Faschina on the flower hiking trail.
